1 Corinthians 6:11
"What does it mean to be saved?"

“What does it mean to be saved?”

Text: 1 Corinthians 6:11, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of our Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

  • Saved: Rescue from harm or danger
  • Biblical definition: to preserve from injury, destruction or evil of any kind; to rescue from danger; as to save a house from the flames, to save a man from drowning. To rescue from eternal death.

  • Satan will attempt to downplay our experience. He will bring up all the accusations and charges against you.

  • The truth is we can live a life victorious. The Holy Spirit wants everyday, every moment, every breath with you. It’s in this commitment and obedience that He changes you.

  • Ephesians 2:8,9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith, not of yourselves it is a gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.”

  1. It means I am justified:
  • Declared righteous in the sight of God.
  • No matter what sin or stain tainted my life the moment I say yes to Jesus the charges are dropped. The accuser has no case against me.
  • The deceiver has no grounds to accuse me.
  • Our text scripture tells us in 1 Cor. 6:11, “and such were some of you, but ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the. Spirit of our God.”
  • When Zacheus came down from that tree it didn’t matter what people thought about him he was a different man.
  • When Paul rose up from the road to Damascus he was changed by the Power of God, set apart. Romans 1:1, “Paul a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God.”
  1. It means I am sanctified:
  • Set apart for a special use.
  • God has a special use for you. God wants to anoint you for His service and His glory.
  • We are being sanctified on a daily basis. We are in a process of being set apart.
  • We make this life of faith so hard for believers with rules and man made boundaries of what we think scripture is saying. Safe haven laws to keep us corralled. Fact is we have made it almost impossible for people to be free to be used by God.
  • This is how you preach, this is how you operate in the gifts, you can’t get too crazy in your worship, if you prophesy it has to be this way, on an on an on. I’m concerned with only what the bible says.
  • God is raising up believers today that are breaking the religious mold. Believers that speak thus saith the Lord. Believers dancing a new dance of victory. Believers who walk daily in a fanatical existence of worship.
  • Believers who know they have been set apart who are not afraid to rise up during the sermon and give God some crazy praise. Not afraid to let an unknown tongue flow from their lips as the spirit gives the utterance.
  • Sanctified, with a voice of triumph.
  • When I uttered the words I am saved and said a sinners prayer I crossed from death to life. I’m not perfect but I’m being perfected.
  • I’m being set free; I’m being delivered; I’m dancing in truth; speaking victory; learning obedience, understanding, charity, peace.
  • I am in a process of regeneration.
  • Excuse me if it takes me a minute to catch on.
  • Excuse me if I take my time and give God glory on a Sunday morning, a Wednesday afternoon, a prayer meeting.
  • Pardon me a moment while I bask in His presence. For it is in His presence my chains are released. It is in His presence my mind is calmed and at ease.
  • So excuse me if a take a minute longer because my week was hell on earth.
  • He is saving me, washing me, transforming me, filling me, healing me, changing me!
